“ENVY”
Definition: The painful or resentful awareness of another's advantages
Envy is an action/drama motion picture. The story is based on the life of two cousins growing up in the crime ridden and drug infested streets of Detroit. Alvin Clawson, also known as AJ, is the younger cousin who has grown up idolizing the drug life of his older cousin, Charles Clawson (called “Caesar” on the streets).
Despite AJ’s positive upbringing, he has always been envious of the fame and fortune that the hustle brings Caesar. As AJ gets older, he slowly finds himself as a major player in Caesar’s drug conglomerate. Caesar is fond of his cousin’s career choice because he wants to keep the business in the family.
What he doesn’t understand is that AJ not only loves the money, but also thrives for the power and envy that goes with it. The relationship between AJ and Caesar begins to change as AJ looks to obtain more power and Caesar looks to withdraw from the “life.” On one hand, Caesar feels he built this dynasty, so he does not owe anything to anyone, but is he losing his edge?
Caesar comes up with a plan in order to teach his cousin a lesson in the business. Little does Caesar know, that this only makes AJ hungrier and more vindictive to earn the respect and envy which he feels he already deserves from his cousin and the streets of Detroit. This urban street drama’s subliminal message is sure to challenge your meaning of life.
